Ferndale and River roads intersection project begins in Dinwiddie County
RICHMOND – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and its contractor, have begun the first phase of intersection improvements at Route 600 (Ferndale Road) and Route 601 (River Road) in Dinwiddie County. Motorists should be alert to the work zone alternating between lane and shoulder closures during weekdays for crews to safely conduct work. Flaggers may be controlling traffic 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. as needed.
Access to properties will be accommodated.
Traffic patterns will change through the three construction phases, including detours as the project approaches completion. Drivers will be advised as work zone and traffic conditions change.
This project will convert the existing alignment to a roundabout. A design public hearing was held in June 2022. Anticipated completion is Spring 2027, weather permitting.
